    • Request a mammogram appointment

Mammograms are only available at our Anderson, Columbia Northeast and Greenville locations.

Your time is important – to you, your family and us. That’s why screening mammograms performed at Anderson Radiology, Palmetto Imaging at ImageCare, and Innervision generally take less than 30 minutes – less time than a typical doctor’s office visit.

Screening mammograms are the best way to help find breast cancer in its earliest stages, when cure rates are highest. A screening mammogram is for women who do not have significant symptoms. If we find a problem during your screening mammogram, or if you are experiencing unusual symptoms, we may recommend you receive a diagnostic mammogram or other breast imaging procedure to help identify the cause.

      Request a screening mammogram appointment

Our online request an appointment feature is for patients who would like to schedule a future appointment and is not intended for same day appointments.

If you would like to schedule a mammogram, please click the button below and complete the form. A representative will contact you to collect additional information and arrange your appointment.

    • About us

Palmetto Imaging is a network of independent outpatient diagnostic testing facilities conveniently located in the capital city of Columbia, South Carolina. We have four convenient locations in the Midlands - West Columbia, Irmo, Northeast Columbia, and Downtown Columbia.

      American College of Radiology Accreditation

Our Irmo facility is located off I-26 on Woodrow Street, just off St. Andrews Road in the Irmo Wellness Center.
Our West Columbia facility is located on Highway 378 between I-26 and I-20, just down from Lexington Medical Center’s main campus.
Our Northeast facility, ImageCare, is Northeast Columbia's only full-service outpatient radiology facility and is located at 710 Rabon Road, Suite 100, just off I-77 at Farrow Road.
Our Downtown facility is located at the corner of Lady and Marion Streets, two blocks from the State Capital building and Prisma Health Baptist Hospital.

Palmetto Imaging is committed to providing convenient, high quality radiology services at a price you can afford. Did you know when choosing a free-standing imaging facility there are significant savings in out-of-pocket expense? Palmetto Imaging exams are 40-60% less expensive than area hospitals and our charges include the radiologist’s interpretation of your exam. At most hospital facilities you will receive a bill for the exam and a separate bill from the radiologist reading your exam.

We offer MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, Arthrograms, Fluoroscopy, Interventional Services and Women’s Imaging. Our appointments are designed to accommodate you, our patient. We offer early morning, evening and weekend hours. Our wide bore and open MRIs can accommodate patients who are claustrophobic, obese, anxious or elderly. Not all services are available at all locations, so please call 803-256-7646 and our experienced scheduling team will help you schedule your appointment. Patients must have a current, signed physician’s order for all exams.

Our on-site, fellowship trained, and board-certified radiologists will provide your referring doctor a written interpretation of your exam within 24-48 hours of your appointment. Our staff is able to pre-certify your insurance and our technologists are available to answer any questions you may have about your exam. Referring doctors can access their patients’ images and reports through our secure online web-based portal.

When a simple cyst becomes painful and irritating, a radiologist can aspirate the fluid. This process uses an ultrasound for guidance. The fluid is aspirated and sent for cytology testing, if necessary. A cyst aspiration is considered an invasive procedure and requires the patient to sign a consent form.

Breast ultrasound examinations are sometimes necessary to correlate with mammograms to allow the radiologist to make a confirmed diagnosis. Ultrasound is sometimes preferred in diagnosing young adults who have not reached the recommended age for mammograms. An ultrasound also assists the radiologist in the diagnosis of cystic nodules in the breast tissue.

Your doctor may recommend a breast biopsy to examine the growth more closely than possible with a mammogram. The procedure uses a special imaging technology to accurately target a questionable lesion, with significantly less pain and no scarring.

Interventional radiography is a growing area in the radiology field. By utilizing imaging guidance, the radiologist is allowed to localize areas of interest with minimal patient discomfort. These invasive procedures may in some instances allow the patient to avoid surgical procedures.
